Ernst Frank, Karlovy Vary=Drahowiß 273 28.Feber 1942. Dear Karl ! I have to try you again because of the production of the second edition of "Children in Sun" by the Orbis and would like to ask you to make a call to Beneral Director Rudl again. Dié Orbis demands from my publisher a safety certificate for the production of the book according to the decree 247 of the Ministry of Economics and Labour in Prague. Apart from the fact that the safety certificate would have to be obtained by my publisher from Berlin, which would not mean anything in itself, if it were not to be feared that it would take weeks or months, there is apparently also a small erroneous view of the Orbis publishing company. According to the circular from the office of the German Book Trade in in Protectorate Berlin Nr.Pap.l8/42 of the 2nd Jan 1942, for orders from the Old Reich from 2o.Jänner permit requirements and safety certificates must be provided. It means literally: This provision is valid from now on and these applications must be submitted to the office in the future. The order for the production of the second edition of "Kinder in Sonne" by my publisher, however, already on the l2.Jänner l942 by telephone to Ganraldirektor Rudl, bzw. at the l5.Jänner in writing. to the Orbis. According to the Berlin regulation, therefore, the order of the Junglandverlag to the Orbis is not covered by the provision of an authorisation obligation and a safety certificate, whereas the Orbis in a letter and Jungland Verlag claims that the authorisation would also have to be retroactively followed up. From this contradiction the possibility arises that the Orbis may not really want to produce the second edition, which would damage my publisher and me very much, because it is also the second lo.ooo of the book already sold in advance. The first edition is immediately in the state of delivery from Prague to Görlitz. I hope, therefore, that in the next few days I will receive my free tickets. Then I will immediately bring a piece of the book to you for dispatch. I would therefore like to ask you to call Rudl, that he may act in this case in confidence of the Berlin round call, which can be submitted to him immediately confidentially. The Orbis has already been confirmed in this regard and the presentation of the circular is offered to her. The safety can certainly not play such a big role in my case. I thank you in advance for your mediation and wish you all the best for your upcoming trip to Gurgl. Hopefully my book will reach you before your departure. Greetings to you and Lola and Heil Hitler! n 7 Aloerd: Eie chvecqentoid sriaele mid Semeae danedirs Eide beaprreter iree ind berriige 2.a. 9 7ay.42 X\H-4/42 V
