General. The closer circumstances of the death of a person require in most cases a certain examination, since the death can often be caused by criminal acts. 1. Basic information for the processing. a) Treatment of the cases of death investigation as emergency cases. In principle, death investigations are to be treated as "emergency matters" and processed with the greatest care and energy. b) Deviation from the usual working method. Since only general indications can be given in the case of the very numerous manifestations, in the individual case deviations from the usual working methods are possible and permissible in order to achieve the desired goal more quickly and safely. c) Behaviour towards relatives of the dead. When dealing with cases of death investigation, it is the duty of officials to deal with the deceased's courtesies, which are naturally deeply affected by the soul, particularly tactfully and politely; however, due to too great consideration, the investigation must not suffer. d) Obligations in the event of death which has not yet occurred without doubt. The concern for the preservation of the life of an injured person bridges all doubts about any questions of jurisdiction. The inclusion of a doctor in the case of death which has not yet occurred without doubt is therefore the first duty of the officials appearing at the scene of the crime. 2. Legislative provisions. The Protectorate Criminal Police is based on § 24 of the Criminal Procedure Order and § 4 of the Reichsgesetz No. (b) an unknown body is found.
