(a) Careful closure of the crime scene. The post-crisis work and investigations can suffer and be made more difficult if the organs which appear at the scene at first do not take all measures to secure the further and narrower crime scene, in order to prevent changes from being made by the unoccupied, old traces from being removed and new, misleading ones from being caused. The entry into the crime scene by any person who is not directly involved in the investigation of the matter must therefore be prevented under all circumstances until the readiness to commit murder has arrived. The security of the crime site must be carried out as far as possible. b) Notification of the next department. As soon as organs become aware of a capital crime, it is their first duty to notify the next department of the Protectorate Criminal Police, so that the immediate alarm of the readiness to murder can be made from there. (c) Searching the crime scene for traces. Before arriving at the victim of the crime, the nearest environment of the scene must first be thoroughly searched for traces of the incident. Whereas it is necessary to take particular care to ensure that no trace is removed; whereas, therefore, the search for traces must be restricted to the escape traces of the person or persons involved; whereas the securing of the traces must, particularly in difficult cases, be postponed until the appearance of the official; If traces are secured by way of exception, the sites of discovery must be specified and designated. Traces of the organs working at the scene of the crime must also be identified. d) Calling a doctor (detection of death). If there are still signs of life in the victim of the act. a doctor must be called immediately. The concern for the preservation of life must be preceded by all further measures. If it is not possible at the moment to consult a doctor, the findings as to whether the victim of the crime has actually already died have to take the organs themselves, namely (1) on the basis of the usual body appearances, e.g. (a) Musculature depletion (dead-enantlitz), (b) Body cooling (decrease in temperature) - usually by about 1 degree per hour; depending on the outside temperature, the meteorological conditions, the state of the body (fat, lean, dry, moist skin) -, (c) Dead spots (already visible 2 to 3 hours after death), (d) Dead starvation (beginning 3 to 6 hours) after death, wandering from head to foot, (e) dehydration symptoms (hard, reddish brown skin spots), (f) rotting and decay; (2) if the characteristics listed under (1) are not detectable, by (a) attaching the ear to the bare left nipple for listening, whether the heart still beats, (b) observation of breathing activity, detectable (aa) during lifting and lowering of the chest, (bb) by listening to the mouth and nose after breathing sounds, (ce) by holding a pocket mirror in front of the mouth or nose (when it strikes, there is breathing movement), (dd) by placing a fluff on the lips and nostrils (moving, breathing movement is present), (c) drizzling of a burning seal varnish drop on the skin (in the case of living persons, the Redness of the skin around the drop, but redness remains in the case of the dead).
