8 II. S. P. D. 1) Organisation. The illegal SPD, which has been a board member in Prague since 1933, is far less important than the KPD. It has no Reichsorganisation, but only local and mostly rather loose associations (especially in Central Germany). 2.) Propaganda and intelligence service. On the other hand, the printed material propaganda of the SPD is of great importance, which is mainly exercised by the dissemination of the 'Soci- alist_Action'. This propaganda is characterized by greater objectivity before communist propaganda and is therefore particularly dangerous. The detailed "Deutschland-Berichte" (Germany Reports) published by the SPd monthly have the existence of an extended SPD intelligence service in the Reich as a prerequisite at the beginning of the year 1936, it was possible to gain insight into this by arresting some trade union officials (Dmv). These officials had maintained cohesion since 1933 as travellers for shaving water and thus regularly collected news from the companies and forwarded it to the headquarters of the metal workers' federations in Komctau(csR). It is to be assumed that the SpD receives considerable intensifications from foreign states for this information work. 3.) Influence on sympathizers. The SpD certainly has many sympathizers (e.g. sports and hiking clubs, carpentry associations, insurance companies and the like) in numerous similar orgarizations. • Especially the consumer associations are usually only led by a party partner, but almost consistently in the hands of the former Marxist functionaries.
