The war against Soviet Russia, whose sudden outbreak completely surprised, did not have an effect on the Czech population, as whisper propaganda, comeunist or panslavist mood amaches expected. Although the majority of the Czechs, according to their internal attitude, welcomed the outbreak of this new war, they were much more restrained with their statements and in their actions than with the start of the Yugoslav crisis. War fatigue in the broad masses of the people, food worries, fear of Bolshevism in circles of the peasant population, of the middle class and the wealthy class, and also doubts about the military force of Soviet Russia cause that moods and reliefs of the Czech population are inconsistent in relation to the war situation in the east. - 2 - St.S.
