- 6 - 6a to display the official loyal attitude externally. On 7 March this happened in the press, which, in accordance with the instructions given, mainly dealt with the importance of Masaryk as a philosopher and sociologist. In his appreciation as a politician and statesman, the newspapers were largely restricted, but pointed to Masaryk's sense of reality, his concern with the German question and the fact that, as a result of the period since his work, his political aspects and principles should not easily be transferred to the present day. On 1 March, the papers again tried to convince the public of the correctness and immutability of the decision taken last year by President Hácha and to stress the need for factual and close cooperation with the Germans. The same happened in a rally of the N.G. as well as in the extraordinary plenary session of the Committee of the National Socialists. On 15 March, in the presence of Prime Minister Eliáš and Minister Krejčí, German and technical journalists, the chairperson of the Nebeský Committee for the anniversary of the establishment of the Protectorate, and on the 1st anniversary of N.G. (24 March), the chairman of the Committee and Dr. Mrazik in one article in each of the Czech daily newspapers appeared the loyal foundation of the N.G. But the lack of any positive expression was always quite falsified. The programme of the National Community is now more finished and approved by the President. It disintegrates into a national-political, a social-economic and a cultural part. The N.G, then, is supposed to be the national and social movement of the Czech people. On German-Czech cooperation, the hope is expressed that the German people, who had emphasized the independence of other peoples, would also understand the need for the Czech people to live and find means of permanent cooperation. The idea of the people's community, in which also the Czechs outside the protectorate borders are included, requires - as it is expressed in the programme - the separation of foreign elements, especially of Jews.
