f3 2.Blat to the letter of 30./8.1941 to Mr. Secretary of State K.H.,Frank, Prague. THE PRIMATOR-STELL REPRESENTATIVE OF THE MAIN STATE PRAG therefore dealt with the greatest care with it so that it can stand up to this criticism." To this justification of Dr. Verner, I allow myself to note the following. I know Verner's work in the military unit since 15 March l939. In the first few months after the establishment of the Protectorate, I had a great opportunity to observe it in its workings, since the military authorities' requirements for the city were very high at that time. At that time, as I did later, only one thing I could see was that Verner had fulfilled all the orders and wishes he had given with the greatest of conscience and punctuality. I therefore gave him a spontaneous commendation from the Prague city commanders Maj-Gen. Frhr.v.Gablenz and Colonel v. Briesen under the l0./7.l939, according to the enclosed copy. Other military bodies have also spoken out in writing and verbally in praise of Verner's work. I was therefore all the more surprised by the present incident. If I am to choose between the statement of Czech Maceška and Czech Verner as a German, then I can't get rid of the impression that Verner ́s statement corresponds more to the true facts. Mrs Maceška seems to have torn individual sentences out of the context in which they were spoken and put them on record, which can very easily give the impression that Verner wanted to damage the police in a decisive way. I have tried to further examine Verner's statements on their truth content to ask Dr Zuleger for a debate on me. However, according to his telephony, his superior has forbidden him to continue to interfere in this matter, since it has been brought before you, Mr. Secretary of State, and I must ask him, Mr, if you would like to hear Mr. Dr. Zuleger on this matter. From the knowledge of a number of recent concrete cases concerning the rental of urban objects/schools/to the military administration and in which Dr.Verner is also active
