Prag ho eir booene ene dadond s CEOEE 4/m yt 9eg Dear Secretary of State ! f.de frienteks I would like to send you the translation of a request addressed to me by the Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Russian Historical Archives in Prague, Prof. A.N. Fateyev. On my part, I can fully support this request on the basis of the Argu AOMM report, which is that, at the request of the German authorities, part of the archive collection, namely the military material, should be removed from the archive and handed over to the Military Archives, or to the Prague Department. As can be seen from the attached document, such a detachment of a part of the book and document consists will significantly reduce the value of the individual pieces, since the collection of archives is particularly valuable, especially as a whole, by the association of the existing material. It is perfectly understandable that the German authorities are currently particularly interested in the collection of archives, but it is quite possible to find a solution that would meet the wishes of the German bodies without reducing the value of the collection by dividing the material stock. I would therefore propose one of the two possibilities : 1) it can be used either by an interpretative commissioner for the Russian History Archive or 2) the collection of documents as a whole can be handed over to the Army Archive. In both cases, it would be desirable to leave the Russian archival staff as they have acquired thorough knowledge of this field through years of work, know the existing book and document material in detail, and significantly lower costs in terms of pay.
