STATE SECRETARY FOR THE RUSSIAN PROTECTOR IN THINGS AND IN MORAVA, PRAGUE, inv. 1781, sig. 109-5/9
English Translation
I Report on the general political situation in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia for the period from ll February to 14 March 1941. -.-.--..-...-....-- The attitude of the Czech people has continued to stiffen in recent times. Under the influence of the enemy radio, most of the politicizing Czechs expect the German defeat. The negotiations with the Berlin authorities for an adequate supply of fat by the German population in the Protectorate and for a supply of canteens in the defence industry in accordance with the regulations in the rest of the Reich area have led to a satisfactory result. From the next supply period, the increased allocations of fat will be able to enter into force. The protectorate's contribution to the empire was set at 5 billion kroner for the year 194l. I started negotiations with the protectorate government on the way this sum is spent - taxes and borrowing - in connection with the design of the protectorates' budget for 1941. A sharper assessment of tax obligations should lead to an increased tax income without increasing tax rates. Therefore, it is planned to include in the protectorate financial administration a small number of higher, the Czech language knowledgeable German financial officials.
