18 Report on the general political situation in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia for the period from 1.10. to 31.10.1940. S0GgmeoGcE:CG0G55Mn Since the last report of 1.10.194o, the political lie in protectorate has changed substantially. The re-education action initiated by the Czech government and the "National Community" on German grounds in the sense of the ideas of the Reich has so far not yielded any positive results. The Loyalty Declarations held in sealed Protectorate were consistently visited and received indifferently or negatively, and were only regarded as a necessary concession arising from the political situation. After the failure of this emulation wave, some committee members of the "National Community" tried to prove their richly-scathed attitude by radical Jewish decrees. These hatreds were also rejected by all sections of the people, while President Ráche was the same, while the Cardinal Archbishop Kaspar wrote to the President of the Steats that he had violated the laws of the Jews. Sokol and the Cultural Council were also opposed. Authors and bearers of this loyalty policy had to resign in the "Netional Community". The circulation figure of the Czech daily press, which was particularly committed to the so-called loyalty policy, decreased within a very short time by 25g.
