- 3 - The acquisition of the necessary German soloists is, according to Walleck, a mere question of money. The Rv-referat of the Reichspropagandaministerium has recently agreed to give itself for the special opera and operetta concerns of Prague by advocating exemptions from the various forms of acting and opietta. The opera house is not considered for the operetta, because the space for the average voices of the opietta soloists is too large. Later, the Weinberger Stadttheater could serve for operette purposes. However, this would have to be rebuilt only because the stage rooms are in completely impossible condition. The operetta would, moreover, be subject to the systematic preparation of the opera for the next year (especially with regard to choir, ballet, etc.) In the accounting year 1942/43, if the plan were approved, the total amount for the operette would be 7/12, i.e. So only 42o.ooo,-RM is required, which however must be approved by 1 May 1942, otherwise the timely commitment of the required soloists is questioned. It would therefore appear that the application to the Minister for Finance of the Reich is initially to be postponed, but at the same time the general requirement for the German opera and operetta for the next accounting year is to be met. Graf Sehverin v. Krosigk, B exIin. Subject: German opera and operetta in Prague. One of the most urgent cultural-political problems of the Protectorate is the fact that for many years now there has been no tangible success between the various competent authorities.
