THE OBERLANDRAT Moravian-Ostrava, 23 October 194 2. in Moravian Ostrava sang for the districts of Moravian Ostrau, Friedeck, Friedberg, Vel nededoin Brähm Wall.-Meseritsch and Wsetin Eingin 2 6. OKT. 1942 Fernruf Nr. X5 44 88 To the inspector of the Reichsprotector Herr Reichsprotektor in Bohemia and Moravia Abbot. No. Dr.Jo/Cy zu Hd. of the State Secretary SS = Group leader F r a n k in Prague. 1EO group leader! 38716. 040 The circle leader of Olmütz has presented me with a matter of concern, the reason of which I have made my own and which I therefore want to present to you. A few days ago, the Brno State Archives informed the Board of the University Library of Olmütz that the files, matrices and archivists of the Olmutz University Library, as they had been incorporated into the acquis communautaire of the Reich, would be brought to Brno in the near future. The city of Olmütz, which still holds the title of capital, can look back on a rich historical and scientific life. The German university in Olmutz was abolished only a few decades ago. The aim of the authoritative German circles of Olmütz, and thus agrees both the mayor and the district head, is to emphasize the importance of the city of Olmoetz as the cultural and spiritual centre of the north and east Moravian territory in the interest of the Germanization of the return of this country. From this point of view, the Olomouc people complain that in recent times, Olomouk archives have been systematically moved to Brno. Thus, valuable points of attraction and foundations for an intellectual activity are lost. Olomouz, head of the Olmouc circle, Head of Section Ing. Schmelzle, points out whether it would not be possible to manage the valuable Olomouc archives, which are of course centralized, accordingly and, in so far as it is not yet St..40-141/42
