English Translation
C The Imperial Protector in Bohemia and Moravia Prague, 5 June 1941. Telex - Encrypted 1 To the Lord Reichsmarschall of the Great German Empire, Commissioner for the four-year plan, at the hands of Mr. State Secretary Kö r n e r Berlin W8 Leipzigerstrasse 3. The potato harvest of the Protectorate in 1940 was about 30% below the previous year's harvest. In the protectorate as well as in the empire, the consumption of potatoes for human consumption and the need for potatoes for feed have increased considerably. In view of the very unfavourable weather conditions so far, the beginning of the indigenous potato harvest can only be expected in early July. There have already been very serious difficulties in the supply of potatoes to the protectorate. Until the beginning of the harvest, only about 1 kg of potatoes are available per week for each beneficiary in the 8 main consumption centres of the Protectorate. The Reich is unable to provide the protectorate with additional supply of potatoes or alternatively by delivery of bread cereals. This is by mini-sterial director Dr. Moritz from the Reichsnährungsministerium in a meeting with the undersigned on 30 May 1941 in Prague was expressly clarified. It is therefore to be feared that in the next weeks there may be serious concerns among the consumer, especially among the workers of the large armaments works. I feel compelled to point out this explicitly, especially with regard to the possible effects on the large armaments industry of the region working for the Reich. K.H.
