After completing his legal studies at the University of Vienna, J u n g w i r t h, who only has German education, joined the Austrian-Hungarian army as an auditor, in which he achieved the rank of senior lieutenant of the judicial service. After the overthrow in 1918 he was taken over by the Czecho-Slovak Wehrmacht, but soon left it again and switched to the police service, where he was assigned as police commissioner to the Police Directorate Pressburg. J. first appeared in Pressburg as a German. However, when he later saw that this prevented him from doing so in his official fort, he confessed to Czech nationality on the grounds that his mother was a Czech woman. He became very popular with the former police director in Pressburg, Sláviček, and soon became Chief Commissioner at his meetings and appointed a police council two years later. Towards the end of 1923, J. was transferred to the police directorate of Kaschau. In Kaschau he also had friendly relations with the German consul Grappe in addition to his social relations with Czechs.
