Dr. habil. Serbert Weinelt, z. Zt. im Felde: Die Olmüßer Deutschtumsinsel als Brückenkopf des bayrischen Volkstums im northern Moravia. The old view of a sharp, pronounced border between the individual German tribals is long overtaken in favour of the correct finding that a border line is rarely found and that rather between the single tribal core landscapes there are more or less wide border areas, in which fich the neighbouring tribals overlay. Ju Moravia is this border area between the foothills of Bavaria coming from the south and the Dstmitteldeutsche befonders from the north, because the mutual penetration and superposition of foreign Slavic folkes took place, as if they had not been present at all. It was not so that the Germans had only cleared the dense border forests, for whose originalization the native Slavs have not yet been able, but German settlers have been sewed in everywhere in the land of Moravia, once in order to close the settlement hatches aud in the Jennern and the second in order that the whole country by its model and its performance should be integrated into the German cultural circle. This included, above all, economic approximation, which would have been impossible without the help of the German farmers and citizens. In the forms of life, Moravia was still strongly committed to the European Dsten until the powerful Einsesse of the German settlement and grubbing-up, which is still noticeable today in the houseban Jnnermährens: East German-Slavic houseforms maintained for me as far as the leşte period against West German-German. The eastern trains are increasing against the Carpathians, the border against Slovakia. Of course, this looked considerably different in the Middle Ages. In Slovakia at that time, German life flourished in far more places than today, today completely or almost completely sparked Germanism= groups such as the in and around Schemiß or the Neussoller showed a cultural and economic high which did not differ in anything from the old German West, even in the easternmost Slovakia, in Bartfeld, that was no different. In the 19th century a famous gymnasium was built there according to the ideas of Melanchthon, the German acting has a place in the city, soon also a Drukerei is founded ufw.
