- 2 - Lecture: Prof. Dr. Jaroslav S t r á n s k ý: Better life and a better world. My friends, you will certainly understand when I interrupt my lecture series on the tasks that await us after the war, and direct our joint attention to one of the most present German prats, which now once again flaunts our teeth. This is one of the last precautions against the Czech people, to which the legi- naries must hold this time. Frank called for the legionaries to be excluded from the public services and from the cultural life of our people. These legionaries are supposedly the misfortune of the Czech people, because they disturb the coming peace in the new kingdom and in Europe and because they represent a nonsense that will never have more power and weight. You certainly understand what this nonsense is, which will never bear weight, it is our freedom and our state. These first soldiers of freedom and of our state really disturb the peace of these Hitlers, Neuraths and Franks. They don't even have to collapse and disturb the public calm, they already disturb the German peace by their existence; for where did they really go in their d d d de e stages and editorial offices? In reality, we no longer have our authorities, courts, courts etc., because all of this is subject to German control and discipline. We have seen how a campaign against them was immediately launched on Frank's command in the press and on the radio. He only had to wink with his eyes, and the Czech newspapers must already write that this is Czech. People want to live in peace with the Germans, and if the legionaries disturb the aspiration, then they have to disappear. It all works as if on the clock, nevertheless the Czech legionaires were not so far excluded from the public services and from the cultural creation. From their side, Mr. Frank still could not complain about anything. People know today, as before, that nothing is to be directed against violence. It is certain that the Czech legionaries are a living memory of the whole people, even under German control, of the great struggle of truth, the victory against lies, the victorious path to freedom from violence. The Germans really appreciate this fact, but what do they achieve with it, if they exclude the legionaries from the public services, from the national life of the people? The legionaires will not die in the memory of the nation. Paul /?/ is forbidden to play in the National Theatre, but Zborov will not disappear from history. If all their rights are taken away from the Legionaries today, they will become even bigger than before, If one forgets that they used their lives 25 years ago to secure the life of the people think the Germans, who with their fist the Czech. They have silenced their lips that they can also turn off the Czech memory so that our memory of all that the legionaries for us have done, of everything that the Legionaries have rebuilt for us? No, the Germans will not succeed in eradicating from our memory the years of national freedom. It is precisely through them and their actions that the memory of the csl. freedom in the people must be awakened, just as in the prisoner the clinging of the fetters, especially awakens the thought of freedom. But even if the Germans succeeded in taking the memory of the Czechs, this would not suffice, they would also have to take away the honour to kill the will for freedom in them, which they enjoyed and for which they fought for, like all the educated peoples of the world.
