E.2. 52 Assembly in the Lucerna on 24January 1938 under the motto: "Tell the people the truth!" B e r a n comes back to the article of January 1, 1938, which he reads literally. In the course of his speech, he cancels himself from the attacks of the Communists and the People's Party. Beran then quotes the speech given in Reichenberg in August l936, which said at that time that he wanted to be mediators and helpers of both sides, and that in Reichenberg he felt:o good as in Prague. B e r a n then took note of the accusation that he was seeking a totalitarian system. Beran was satisfied with the Czechoslovak export to France and Russia. Equally directed at the Enigranteng dasie is also directed against the agricultural party. Beran also deals with the problem of the "hranddáti" (bordermen) who need work and economic assistance. B e r a n s speech ends with the statement that the people want to have openness and clarity and with the assurance that he will work for a collaboration of all the state-building strata. This speech was published as a brochure and discussed in great detail in Venkov on 6 February l938. (it is not, therefore, a new text by Beran).
