English Translation
15a - 22 - President Dr. Emil Hacha of 15 June 1942 in accordance, where it is stated: "The proposal to seek the way of direct contact with the leader, who finally led the establishment of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, was presented to me by the then Minister Dr. Havelka as a decision of the government, at the head of which Beran was the responsible Prime Minister." It is therefore not to be seen that the defendant in particular may claim to be the author of this idea. Finally, the witness Frank confirmed that, for the defendant's present return from the post of Prime Minister, the insufficient knowledge of the German language was not decisive, as the defendant claims. The defendant was resigning solely because he no longer had the confidence of the Reich Protector in any way. In political circles in Prague and in particular in the case of foreign journalists, it was known at that time that the defendant had been seeking, since March 1 939, to withdraw his office as Prime Minister on his first occasion and that the accused had also been suspected of having had links with the Polish intelligence service. For these reasons, the defendant was advised to resign from the post of Prime Minister. On the basis of the specific, convincing and exhaustive testimony of the witness Frank, it was not necessary to carry out further evidence on the political role played by the defendant Beran. In particular, it was not necessary to follow the request for consultation by the Reichsstadt and Gauleiter Konrad Henlein, the Governor Kundt and the President of the Regierungspresidency Dr.Sebekowsky. This is all the more so when the witness Frank also stated that he had known the accused since the year 1 936 and had always been well informed about his political activity, since he, as deputy leader of the Sudeten German Fartei, as representative of Konrad Henlein and as a member of the then Czech parliament, repeatedly with Bn aaa a d aa, that this witness, in his authoritative political position, not only followed the political events in the Czechoslovak Republic in the green, but that he was also informed in detail and correctly about the circumstances in question.
