Copy as Der Reichspostminister Berlin W 66, the 6. May 194o Min-Z 2476-7 Leipzigerstrasse 15 To the %ry Herrn Gauleiter and Reichsstatthalter im Sudetengau Konrad H e n 1 e i n Reichenberg/Sudetensgau On the letter of 4.4.4o 1oo/52-St. Telegramme after the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. The question of the German address of telegrams to recipients in the Protectorate referred to in your accompanying letter is also the subject of my concern. Although, apart from the case of Moravia-Schönberg which you have raised, further complaints in this direction have not yet become known here, I am determined, in the interest of a conscious popular policy, to bring this matter to a satisfactory solution as soon as possible. The unfortunate event in itself finds its explanation in the fact that, unfortunately, the Czech names of places have not yet been replaced by the German ones in the "List of Services Open to World Telegraph Transport". The department of the Reichsprotektor has only recently received the documents required for a recasting of the register. The conversion work which is already under way can now be completed in the foreseeable future. Since I share with you, Mr Reichsstatthalter, the view that the information of the German place names should remain unchanged in telegrams after the Protectorate, until the completion of the new directory, I have ordered the telegram acceptance points to refrain from any change of German place information on telegram to recipients in the Protectorates. Heil Hitler ! Her f.a.R.a M. gez.oh n esorg e. Mauller.
