Vorg.: There St.S.XI A - 45/42 of 22.7.1942. The reasons which led to the occupation of the Vlajkist B r i k c i u s at Melantrich-Verlag were the following: Editor Brikcius was editor of the newspaper "Vlajka" and appeared in the first half of July 1942 on his own initiative at Oberrat M e 1 č in the Czech press office with the request to give him a corresponding new position. Brikcius stressed that he no longer felt comfortable with the newspaper "Vlajka" for personal reasons, especially since the content did not correspond to his wishes. Oberrat Melč promised to stand up for Brik cius and conducted negotiations with the writer P r o k o p from Melantrich-Verlag. Prokop, who had always shown a certain weakness for the Vlajka and had already brought the former Vlayka writer Peiger to the "Ceské slovo", was ready to accept Brikcius. Brikcius then tried to appeal to Wolfram von Wolmar, head of the main storm, in order to obtain a personal advice on whether he should accept the offer to enter into the "České slovo" as a writing director. Wolfram refused a debate and had Brikcius explain through one of his German employees that he should act according to his own wishes. XJ A-45a/42 141
