Prague, 28 August 1941. Note. The question of uniforming the Czech customs officers working in the Reich's order administration was to be decided. The procedure is under reference number II/7-3-1339/41. In the course of the processing of the operation, the commander of the security police had suggested to check whether the customs officers should not receive German uniforms. The Under-Secretary of State has commented on the matter as follows: "Mr. Böhme has suggested that the question be examined whether the Czech customs office should not be placed in German uniforms. I do not think the question is ready for discussion. At least it cannot be decided so quickly that we should prevent the introduction of the planned rank badges. The introduction of German uniforms, apart from all political considerations, is particularly opposed to the shortage of raw materials, and we must first have the old Czech uniforms applied. There are no doubts about the planned rank badges, not even from the side of the BdS." The Secretary of State has closed his eyes to the view of the Under-State Secretary, but wishes to bring the matter to the attention of the Reichsführer 4 the next. 2. Chancery relies on special bows: K.H. with 2 annexes sent to the Under State Secretary again. The Secretary of State has agreed to your view and is keeping the equipment of the Czech customs officials - 2 -
