Minister Gehrl from the Czech Ministry of the Interior called me and explained that the instructions given to replace the members of the Brno government police were contradictory - and that there was uncertainty as to whether the relatives concerned were either to be removed or to be retired or only to be transferred by way of criminal proceedings. Mr Gehrl replied that I could not answer the question, that it was a letter from the Secretary of State in his capacity as Higher 4 and Police Chief to the Prime Minister Eliáš.
