Prague, 21 November 1940. Prime Minister E l i a besal! P r ag. 1.4/10.40. Dear Prime Minister! In Brno, as you may know, on 8 October, the Council adopted a resolution on the situation in the former Yugoslavia. In November 1 940, during an examination of the German language by the police captain Johann Schubert, an extremely unfortunate, even outrageous incident occurred when guard Karl Chalup declared that "within two years Hitler would hang anyway and that he would no longer need the German tongue". This manifestation is a great pity for me, Fatacu trkucta, that under the uniformed guard corps there is in Brno the spirit that seeks to prevent any successful coexistence between Germans and Czechs. It is the same spirit that constantly runs out and exacerbates contradictions towards some discreet movements in the Czech people, in which he pursues thoughts that must have their end once and for all. I am no longer in a position to watch the action of this decomposing spirit stand still in the face of this gross fall. I have ordered that the members of the police corps, who are legionaries, be removed from this. 1 &56
