- 2 - to the extent to which the content of the statements contained in the article is to be regarded by the Czech official bodies as an official directive, according to which German parties decide on the question of legionaries in the future. I am forced to call upon Your Excellency on this issue, because - as your Excellence is well aware - the chairman of the Government of Ing. Eliáš himself was also a member of the former Czechoslovak legions. It is only natural, therefore, that the chairman of the government could not ignore the said rally, and I fully understand his concerns, which he expresses in the letters addressed to me, which I allow me to present in German translation of Your Excellency. It is not entirely understandable to me how such a general position can be formulated in the matter at hand that it also provides for one of the highest representatives of the Czech public life, who, after all, with the express agreement of your Excellency and - as I have been told again by you - also to your full satisfaction, has an unfavorable light. However, the measures against the legionaries made clear in this article are of such a fundamental nature that I consider it my duty to pay attention to your Excellency's following extremely important facts: if the former legionnaires, as a whole, actually derives from public life and also from public protectorate services,
