2 Copy. The Germans at the Cechoslovak Danube Shipping AG. EE 1. Introduction. deaes ärelandet bno dtex Through the efforts of the Slovaks to make good the injustice that has been committed for years in the territory of Slovakia by the Centralist regime, as well as to remove those factual and personal obstacles which have been pushed into the way of the will of the rejuvenated Slovakia to live culturally, socially, economically and politically freely and independently in their country, the German people living in Slovakia have also been obliged to help wherever it is in the interest of this beautiful country, but mainly in the interests of the desirable friendly coexistence of the German and Slovak peoples. It is no secret that both in the historical countries and in Slovakia the German minority should not enjoy the rights and advantages that have not only been legally guaranteed to it, but also from the title of their membership of the large culturally high-ranking community, which is important for the economic life together. It was not only in the field of public legal life, but also in economic life. In particular, it was in those undertakings on which the centralist regime and the state administration could exert a certain influence which did not want to allow such a national personnel policy, which in the circumstances would have been only right, both from the point of view of general objectivity and justice, as well as from the standpoint of political prudence and expediency. There have been many such ventures in Slovakia, which could be pointed out in this respect. We reserve the right to return to the same on another occasion. Today we are forced to refer to the Cechoslovak Danube Shipping A.G. In this context, it is important to draw attention to the fact that national and other problems relating to personnel policy in this company have been resolved in a way which is still being dealt with today, and which require a rapid and irrevocable remedy. We are sorry if we have to point out this company, which has only recently moved into purely Slovak hands, already today. But we are forced to do so by the fact that the leadership of the latter is in the hands of those persons who are burdened by their sad past and in respect of whom the way in which they take power calls for a thorough revision, which cannot offer a full guarantee for the desirable alteration of the existing conditions, apart from the fact, that these persons do not possess the appropriate skills and expertise for reliable, rational and commercial leadership. /.
