4a 12 We do not want to get closer to the persecutions of well-known people in Prussia and abroad, who were persecuted as Czechs only because they dared to solve the national questions ob-ktively and to oppose the methods of the then police force or to stand in the way of the aspirations of other instigators. We can only be interested in those cases in which the employees have been prosecuted because of real or "accepted" participation in the German people's community. Here, in particular, the following cases belong: 1. The case of the official of the nautical department of the Directorate, Alfons Z a i i i c . This quiet, gifted and diligent official was held in the office one day and immediately sent to prison with his wife to Prague, although his only child with high fever was bedridden, so that the doctor who was to arrest the woman was forced to transfer the same to a sanatorium. Later, the office colleagues secretly cared for the child. For a few months he was held in custody with his wife, because he was invited to the night meal by his former colleague, a cl. officer, who was suspected of espionage, at which one of the officers was present. Captain Zajíc had to wait with his wife for the outcome of this trial, and was once again put to a final stop to the criminal proceedings both against him and against his wife, and then, as a reserve officer, the military command responsible for the case, informed him that it was not even necessary to initiate disciplinary proceedings against him. The acquitted officer had taken up his duties, however, against the captain Zajic the board of directors Hrusovsky, at the instigation of Dr. Gasperik, on the initiative of the personal officer, took a negative position and, despite tough resistance of the board, there was at the end nothing left but to terminate this innocent family father and really good officials, since he was called by Hrusovsky as an enemy of the state. This official has been in the service of the Dunajplavba from the very beginning and was to be arrested on the occasion of Mr. Sebera. 2. The second victim of this persecution was the captain of the ship Eduard R e c h e r t . His crime: Riches as a German and secretary of the neutral, unpolitical employment created within the framework of the Dunajplavba, has exposed itself to another socialist organization, which could not be tolerated under these circumstances. Unfortunately, Reichert was also an ostentatious officer, which was already a reason to follow. He had the cadet school together with fellow students.
