Eger, on 29 August 1940. The Oberbücgermeister office of the S'aatssresident of the city of Eger. b-.1 Reicp.o.eh.oe in Bohemia and Moravia. Eing.: 31 AUG. 1940 Tgb. Nr.: 4568 Dear Secretary of State! The city of Eger needs your most urgent support again, as is often the case. For some time I have entered into exchange negotiations with the Order of the Lord of the Cross with regard to the Spittelhof in Eger, which is owned by the Order. The reasons for the Spittelhof are of crucial importance for the urban reconstruction of our city.I have now proposed to the Order of the Cross that the Spidtelhof be exchanged for the town estate Höflas near Seeberg. l In the next few days, the Grand Master of the Order of the Knights Cross in Prague will decide on this offer at Kreuzherrenplatz in front of Charles Bridge.I would like to leave nothing unturned in order to get to the property of the Spittelhof, on whose grounds a festival hall could be built. I would therefore like to thank you, Mr. Secretary of State, for coming up with the petition, by calling on the Grand Master of the Order of Cross, you would be able to express your interest in the whole matter. This alone would be sufficient to influence, indeed to a large extent, the decision in our favour. At the same time, I would like to invite you to an occasional, official visit to the city of Eger, where I would also like to tell you about our plans and our work to date. At the same time, I would like to thank you personally again for the letter you wrote to us to the Minister of Education for the stay of the State School of Commerce in Eger and which will certainly contribute a great deal to the decision we made in our 4ay rem sense. With the best greetings and in old following Fhagr s Heil Hitler! Ct. S.\1 Please turn!
