- ll Oat balance Protectorate Sudeten area Harvest 1000 t 620 360 seeds. 1000 t 55 35 Feed for "civil livestock" 1000 t 525 255 Feed for army horses looo t 40 40 Together............ 1000 t 6,20 330 Surplus/subsidy.... 1000 t 0\}$ + 30 The oat balance is essentially determined by the quantity required for military night purposes. The oat requirement of the former Czech Wehrmacht, which is likely to be mainly derived from the protectorate and the Sudeten area, is not known. If, in line with the German Wehrmascht requirement for both areas, 40 o00 t of heereshafer is assumed, the oat balance is balanced in the Protectorate, while a surplus of 30 o0 t is still available in the Sudoten area. See Table 13 The supply of maize, quantity and legumes is shown in Table 14. The yields could only be estimated roughly on the basis of the areas under cultivation. It is apparent that the maize does not really play a role in the protectorate and Sudetendeutschland. See Table 14 Root crops. The consumption of human food has been assumed as follows: Sudeten protectorate area potatoes kg per head 125 140 ......... sugar "" " 26 26 .......... The lower flour consumption of the Sudete area is almost compensated by the higher potato consumption. Sugar consumption per head is to be assumed for both areas alike.
