89 K-17 Mr. Major Hartel reported on 4.3.1941: On 2nd and 3.3.19 41 the ice of the upper Vltava was moving between Pscher- wena and Budweis and on the Sadau due to the strong snow melt. It was intended to stop the ice masses in the Wran reservoir in order to protect the catch dam at Helmovsky-Wehr in Prague at the Hetzinsel from damage. However, this arrangement could not be met due to the rapid rise of the water, which is why the dust barrier had to be left off. The largest ice course was on 3.3.1941. Today only isolated ice floes still float on the old river. Water levels: Vltava - Budweis + 192 Stiechowitz 27o Moderschan + 3o7 Prague + 170 -12
