3.) The third collective arrest measure is not to be compared with the first two according to scope and consequences, but has a similar effect in terms of mood - in local limits -: the protectorate member Smudek from Taus, who in connection with the roll-up of the illegal military organistioneam 20. In March 1940, two of the persecuting officers were arrested while fleeing. As the perpetrator was not able to seize, 146 inhabitants of Taus, most of whom were respected citizens, were taken into custody and sent to a concentration camp. 17 of the detainees have now been released. Since the persons still in custody have not been guilty of any evidence and since the further detention of the hostages is not to be expected, I no longer consider a continuation of the detention to be representative of the Smudek. I therefore hope that they will be released at the same time as the two other groups. Inh would be particularly grateful if you would inform me as soon as possible whether the Führer grants his approval to these 91/542 measures. Finally, I should like to point out that the President Hácha has repeatedly presented to me for the release of the above-mentioned groups of persons. With the best greetings Heil Hitler! gez.
