bE copy of Rk.14488 A Berlin, 4 October 1940 Subject: Study of members of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, as far as they are Czech folklore, at German universities. Merk On the occasion of the demonstrations of Czech students held in Prague on 15 November 1939, the Reichsprotektor closed all Czech universities in the Protectorates at the request of the Führer. Some of the students were arrested at the time and transferred to the Oranienburg concentration camp; the rest, according to the Reichsprotektor, are now largely in other professions. According to Dr. Führer (Reichsmi- nisterium für Wissenschaft, Erziehung und Volksbildung) and Dr. Hubrich (Re Reichsministerium des Inneren), the members of the Czech People's Protectorate have always been rejected at the request of the Reichsprotector. Therefore, there is currently no possibility for Czech protectorates to take up an academic profession. If there is now a shortage of doctors, technicians, engineers and foresters of Czech ethnicity, I do not think there is any concern that Czech protectorate members should be allowed to study at German universities to a limited extent, but under the condition that the leader has the plan to assimilate the Czechs gradually. If the Czech people were to be denied any study in the country, many would be able to complete their studies in the Czech Republic.
