RK - 1223/43- in Bohm n K.H. Lng. - 3.JULI 1943 H-ObersturmbannführER Dr. Gies. I recently sent a brief report to the Obergruppenführer about the operation of Czechs at the OT in northern Norway and made a note of the Captain Stade, an employee of the Bodenamt, who is currently employed in Northern Norway. He wrote to me in his letter of 17.6.43, among other things: "I spoke with two senior OT leaders from different locations, among others. the local leader, uhd, a leader who directs a large command about 1 5o lm west of here. Both gentlemen confirmed to me in agreement that the work performance of the Czechs employed in greater numbers was remarkably good and surpassed those of the nations employed here, they were also mentioned by both gentlemen as the most politically reliable, at least no differences with the approximately 3o employed here and the approximately 7o Czechs deployed further west had yet to occur. They had even been offended that you were not allowed to rebuke the German greetings by the Czechs; the German Reich is the sole carrier of the Wafien in the OT. I myself came into contact with two Czechs, one of whom was from Prague XII. They stressed that they were satisfied with accommodation, treatment and remuneration, but that they had the great desire to get into a more attractive and warmer environment quite soon. I could not make any statements about their political attitude as a result of the shortness of the contact with them. I do not think it is possible for me to take action on this matter, since my company has a new role to play.
