English Translation
56 Dr. B e r t s c h Prague, 26 January 1942. Dr. G i e s. Jch, Chief Government Councillor, asked the Higher Regional Council of Prague to take special care of the technical works of the city of Prague these days and to do everything possible to ensure that the supply of energy to the City of Prague is not restricted. In particular, Oberlandrat Dr. Freiherr von Watter is commissioned by me as Head of Division II to take the press measures into his own hands, in close agreement with the Press Group of Division IV, which, however, has the instructions from Berlin to make brief press announcements about the effects of the frost. I would like to see Division IV informed of the position of the Secretary of State regarding the press-related progress made at the earliest opportunity; the main difficulties arise from the insufficient supply of electricity from Seestadl/Sudetenland; a conveyor belt is torn at the mine there. The mining of lignite, as it is a day-to-day construction, is also becoming more and more difficult due to the heavy frost. Dr. von Hülsen, the senior government councillor, is going to Seestadl today, in order to determine on the spot which electricity supplies can be expected for Prague in the next few days.
