wW V-Gruf. 24 December 1942. St.S. 516/42. 24. XI. 1942 1.) To 44-group leader Secretary of State Dr. Stuckart, Berlin NW 7, Unter den Linden 72/74. Dear comrade Stuckart : As you know, Under-State Secretary Dr. v. Burgsdorff stands as Major of the Reserve on the Eastern Front and is appointed as Abbey Commander at Stalingrad. jj-Obergruppen- führer Heydrich had Dr. v.Burgsdorff promised that he would make sure that the frontal action will be completed in the autumn of the year. I consider eg my duty to fulfill the commitment of Obergruppenführer Neydrich and ask you to take appropriate steps to release the Wehrmacht v.Burgsdorff. In the absence of senior administrative officials and in view of the fact that v.Burgsdorff is already at an advanced age and is at the front end of the First World War, it should not be too difficult to persuade the Wehrmacht to release itself. However, in the case of clearance, the question whether v. Burgsdorff can return to his job arises. I confess openly that as long as General Reinefarth acts as general inspector of the administration in the authority of the Reich Protector, I must deny this question.
