In this context, it is important that the French Communist Party plays an important role as a section of the Third International, which is particularly marked by the fact that it is the most faithful section within the Communist parties of the countries of the III. The Communist Party of France naturally derives its tradition from all these revolutionary aspirations and phenomena in its own country. It considers itself called to carry on the memory of the great French revolution in itself and to bring it through a new planned revolution to the greatest completion. This was expressed by Communist party leader Maurice Th o r e z on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the French Revolution, saying: "Only the Communist Party celebrates the memory of that great heroic period. We remain faithful to their memory and work, which we are driving forward with the preparation of the next revolution." He stressed here that the excesses of the revolution were merely a consequence of the consistent attitude and that they were fully justified today as at that time. From all these points of view, a presentation of the development, organization and activity of the Communist Party of France (CPF) must be given in order to be able to view and assess its position and position in the French People's Front government, before, during and after the present war, in its dependence on the directives of the Comintern.
