Former Minister for Transport of the Protectorate JUDr. George H a ve 1 k a, born 25, 7. 92 in Orel (Russia), residing in Prague XII., Grimmgasse 9, was at the time of the republic already private secretary of some Ministers. He worked on the position of Senate Council of the Supreme Administrative Court as a member of the government of the autonomous government and was entrusted with the management of the office of the State President until 1940. After the establishment of the Protectorate, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport at the same time as Prime Minister. H a v e l k a has also worked as an editor and co-worker of various journals and compilations for many years. H a v e l k a is one of the most agitating politicians of the Protectorate and understood it in l939 to give itself the appearance as if he had a great interest in close cooperation with German authorities. However, as it turned out already at the end of the year l939 from his own statements and after his German-friendly course was strongly opposed by government members and the population, this was only an extremely clever move by him, in order to have the relations necessary against the German interests for his later workings, which gave him an excellent cover for a long time. Although, in his capacity as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport, he had no cause for the political activity of the -2-
