490 -2- In spite of the German population's self-imposing attitude, air terror is often given a decisive role in the war by pointing out the damage to the bombs and the failure to work. Anglo-Americans' superiority in the air is assumed to be so important that an essential superiority for the end-phase of the war is given to Anglo-Americas. Churchill's speech, which was broadcast on the radio, was received with the greatest interest. Attention was paid in particular to the statements on the superiority of the air and the statements about the Balkans, according to which an offensive in the Balkans is expected again. It is generally convinced that England will under no circumstances supply the Danube region to the Russians and therefore takes the basic attitude towards the overall political and military situation. Kallay's policy, which had a systematic departure from the three-power pact to its objectives and was regarded as a purely Hungarian policy which should lead to a special peace as possible, was therefore very popular. 64951 In legal circles, however, it is clear that the victory of the Anglo-Americans also means Moscow's victory in Europa, and that this would greatly reduce the chances of life of the Hungarian nation, especially in relation to its Slavic neighbours. There is full clarity here that the Bolshevik danger can only be met with direct help from Germany - also within the country. Development on the eastern front, in particular the stormy course of the last days in the southern section, is very divided. In general, however, despite the fact that the Russians are at the border of the country, one tends not to assume that the Germans would no longer be able to become active in the East. Only in the left-wing circles, under the influence of the Jewish propaganda, is one convinced that Germany is no longer able to take successful countermeasures. The German invasion has been shocking in these circles. The appearance of the German troops in Budapest and in the suburbs has had a positive effect in the broadest circles.
