Talks with dez Heimat: Yesterday and today, the great festivities in honour of our great President Maseryk took place in the Czechoslovak Institute in London. Many representatives of the Czecho-Slovak Council of State and members of the government, as well as representatives of English government, met to celebrate Masaryk's birthday. All the halls were full, a sign of interest to the Chekhoslovak cause and we know how to honour our great men there too. Many speeches were given, of which one should be mentioned here. Next spoke Mr. Bruce L o e k - h a r d . We give you an excerpt of his speech on sound boards. "We festered here today to celebrate the birthday of T.G. Masaryk was, how many big miners the history made far ahead of his time, Heure we recognize all his greatness and I certainly express the opinion of many when I say that Masaryc in the Czech people éinheitltth has found his acknowledgment and that we are to the deepest thanks to him for everything he has done for our people. But his idea-shirt will continue to be victorious, we want the fight that he began to wage an end that will become as he waved it. It then continued, It. Streed, a friend of our President: "Democracy is the political form of modern social organization. All people living in democracy should be immemorial and also thirsty free. It gives everyone the greatest political freedom." That was the place where Streed spoke of democracy as the ideal form of state. He then went on to say that England was not the only country that had chosen democracy as a form of government, but that there were still countries that were following it. Masaryk was one of those who wanted to give his country all these freedoms that democracy brings with it. What would Masarych today be blessed if he saw that his dream was destroyed, that he had destroyed his plans. If he would still be alive today, he would have been banished from his homeland and measured working in a foreign country again to achieve his goal. Today, we have taken up his legacy here: we are fighting for the great democratic preoccupation. We have every reason to mourn this great man, we want to go home joyfully from the celebration of his birthday and take with us the hope that everything will come back as he wanted it to.
