Comments to the solvers of our competition: You have already noticed that German is very fond of graphic sayings. Even the soberest people speak it and write it on the most common occasions in figurative terms. The terms such as "den Nagel auf den Kopf treffen' (knock on the right, literally: hit a nail on the head) or "einen übers Ohr hauen' (shidites, fools, palate someone, etc.: somebody's thumbs before the head' or "sich aus der Schlinge ziehen' (leak, sprain responsibility, pull out, pulling out of something, learned.: v y-táhn o u t i s e s s s m m en k y) is in German an innumerable number. Many of these terms are expressed in Czech in the same words, in some there is a small pervert against the German version, some of them are not found in Czech at all or you are poisoned by quite different phrases. For example: ich habe mit dir noch ein Hühn- chen zu rupfen" (you have a garter with me, I have to deal with you even some matter, in which you didn't behave to me just best: he has to with you one more chick) or: "Jemandem den Kopf waschen" (spit out somebody, give him something for it, strongly tell him something, literally: about him or her head) etc. We have chosen them for the third task of our competition. To the pictures on page 344 you have to find a suitable German saying. This will certainly not cause you any trouble. To allow you to infiltrate the solution of this task, print - we are here on the left a different, similar picture, which shows that someone came from the rain under the gutter. In German we will express it: ©Er ist vom Regen unter die Traufe gekommen. After solving the challenge of the competition, write the correct German version, like here under the picture in the past time. We remind you that the expression on the picture- of 1 and 2 on page 344 is expressed in German in the same words as in Czech; you must express the text on Figure 3 and 4 in German somewhat different words than in Czech.
