U n s e r B e t r a g Education tasks with the People's Germans of Hungary Although the basic but not precisely formulated provisions of the Vienna Minority Agreement are hardly regarded as binding by the Hungarian government, the further development of the Peoples' League of Germans in Hungary and thus of the German movement of this largest German ethnic group is assured. The difficulties in achieving the stated goal will probably increase from day to day, but it will also increase the inner strength of the German ethnic group, which will enable it to fight through the struggle in which it is placed. The German ethnic groups' endeavour to know within the Hungarian state their own German concerns safeguarded and secured. However, it is not always made easy for the ethnic group to preserve the will to communicate. Even if a greater understanding has been awakened for the German question, especially in regions, the incomprehension among the provincial and village authorities becomes ever greater. These, mostly assimilated Germans, are almost anxiously trying to hold down any conscious Germanism in their field of work. Their attitude is understandable, although it is not to be approved. However, it clearly shows that even in these circles the dissimilation process begins, to which the madjar historian Szekfü referred years ago. From this beginning dissimilation of the intelligent layers the defense of all German-conscious can be clarified very well. It is almost characteristic for this development that the oppression of the individual German people in the villages is now becoming increasingly fierce. Thus the Zircor Oberstuhlrich ter (Komitat Weissbrunn) is looking for e.g. by arresting and arresting the secretaries of the People's League in the Bakony Forest Odor of students and young comrades who go there to prevent the popular political development of this German part of the population. Such an attitude is an occasion for many fights, which are instigated by the gendarmes or the village authority in the case of permitted German gatherings or festive arrangements in the German Gomeinden and are being lied to the Germans at a trial.
