25 Königgrätz, 22.1.1943th Excerpt. from T.B. No. 149/42 of 25.1.1942. On 23.ll.1942 the 150-year birthday celebration of the Czech poet Klicpera took place in Chlumetz a.d.Z. (Bez. Neu-Bijzow). The extraordinary participation, the presence of the deputy chairman of the czech. Cultural Councils H y s e k and the presentation of the event, which goes beyond the general framework, formed a national chauvinist demonstration for Chlumetz and the surrounding area. Among the guests of honour were other prominent Czechs from Prague, the district head man J e l e n and Count Kinsky with his family from Chlumtz. The event was under white-red-blue lighting and was designed to enthuse the Czech national self-awareness. It was striking that the actors were put away from the teachers and their women. Even a semi-Jew, the retired teacher Š a r č i k from Neu-Bijov, played along. In spite of the strong oppositions that have been held there before the district court, like Klicpera-Verein against NG-Jugend, this time all played side by side and under the slogan "No one can stand back", the disputes settled. The last scene was the Fried-hof in Olschan near Prague, where none of it was mentioned here, at all during the whole event, in how far Klicpera was supported and promoted by Germans and even wrote German plays. It is pointed out here that the monument Klicpera was set at the instigation of one of its German friends. In the concluding choir, Klicpera was highlighted as a national saint and with the vow to live in the nation-wide spirit of St. Wenceslas, which was repeatedly mentioned in the course of the event, concluded the event.
