Prag, 6 February 1943. IV/2 F -4099 RPB-4,10/43 Dr.S/Bi 6 2 76 15.7D.1943 1/ Note. Subject: Statement on the pending procedure concerning the recruitment of Emil P a u 1 , Hptm. a.D. in the film industry. I asked Mr. Hptm. P au u 1 on 5.d.M. to me in order to be able to determine immediately what motivated him to be hired in the movie industry. Hpt m. Paul said that it was a mere coincidence that he applied to the Secretary of State for the position of head of a larger film theatre in Prague, and that he was aware that there were still Czech directors in Prague theatres, and he could be employed in case one or the other were arrested or executed. Otherwise he would not have a particular interest in the film and it would be no matter in which industry he would be employed, he had often been active as trustees in the various industries before. I put Hptm. Paul apart that the Prague Light Play Theatre would be run by the managing directors, who in most cases have been managing this theatre for years and that the owners of these theaters will be difficult to persuade to exchange their expertly trained managing directors into a completely non-specialist man. Even more difficult is the accommodation in the film rental and in the production. The film rental in Prague, as well as in the Reich, would be limited to a central rental, so that a whole number of distributors become free; the film production er./. St. @.xB-230h/42
