73 III LB Prague, 16. 2. 1943 Betr.: Einrichtung von Beneschfreunden in ein Konzen- trationslager. Prague: This decree has increasingly exacerbated the anti-German attitude of the Czech population. The fact that a number of Czech intellectuals belonging to Benesch's former circle of friends were transferred to a concentration camp is referred to as a long-term measure. The intention was obviously to eradicate the entire Czech intelligence ruthlessly, and the Germans were right to do so every opportunity they could. B u d w e i s : The decree of the Secretary of State K.H.Frank announced on the Czech radio that as a result of Benesch's last speech his next employees will be arrested and further measures will follow if Benesch continues in his incitement, has caused the strongest stir and great fear in Czech intelligence and middle class circles. Similar measures are feared, such as those taken after the death of -Obergruppenführer Heydrich, and in part also in disgusts with Benesch, who caused only damage by his actions. The Czech Intelligence points out that it is precisely during this time that measures should not be taken against them, but against the working class, since only in these areas is there a risk of enforcement by Bolshevik propaganda and acute German hostility. The intelligence is far too weak to let itself be bitten to something under these circumstances. b.w.
