48 24.1942 Group II/2 Food and Agriculture Prague, on II/2-3895-7 25. 3. 1942 8 To the Head of Division II in H a u s e. Subject: Statement on the letter St. S. VII b 54/42 of 16. 2.42. According to the report of the Gendarmerie-Station Tuchmierschitz, it was not to be assumed that the purchase of the pigs was for the further removal by E. Batl. SS "D" in Prague-Rusin. This is all the more so because an order of the army administration of 12. 8. 41 - Abtl. IVa - Act.: 62 general C I, 1 - exists, in which an own pig husbandry is expressly forbidden to the troops. Possibly pig husbandries must be dissolved after full mast of the existing pig population. New purchases of young pigs and new facilities for pig fattening have to be omitted." - The units of the Waffen-SS are to be regarded as Wehrmacht forums and thus also for them the same provisions were valid. In the meantime, however, I have to say that the directives on own pig husbandry of formations of the Wehrmacht of the Waffen-SS were not announced, so that the pig-keeping was maintained by units of the Arms-SS. Only during the relatively short period of time from I2. l1. 41 to 5. 12. 41 a total of 9 pigs were bought up. This buy-up must be of concern with regard to the feed used for 9 pigs, since there is no incentive in itself to keep pigs in the context of the sufficient allocation of meat for the Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS, etc., and, on the other hand, it cannot be assumed that for the Batl in question. There are so many kitchen wastes available that 9 pigs can be kept and fattened from them. I still point out that the Wehrmacht-enforced officer, with my agreement, has made a new regulation on livestock farming in military units in the Protectorate; the Waffen-SS has been informed of this.
