85a - ε - "When I was appointed a member of the Czech Association for Cooperation with the Germans by the President of the Republic, I considered it my sacred duty to work on this section of public life in the same way as officers' visions and public duty command me in the interests of the two peoples living in this area. I was all the more attached to this work than my relationship with all German is more than positive and is determined by it (the fact that I spent 23 years of my life in Vienna, where I had ample opportunity to get to know this people and its qualities. After my retirement, I returned to my father's country in 1925 and settled permanently in Iglau, where I live again in German surroundings. During this whole time /l5 years/ I did not have the slightest controversy, yes, on the contrary, I formed a kind of link between the two peoples and used to be sent as a deputation to various national and other enterprises of the German people in Iglau and surroundings. This activity has taken good root and I used to be visited by the German population in order to intervene with the Czechoslovak authorities in their favour. I have done this in many cases.
