A bs c h r i f t_. 5 March 1940. thv 39 X/Dr. Schö/St/ To the State Secretary_SS-Group Leader Karl Hermann F r a n'k , P_r_a_g___IV..__ Czernin-Palais. Subject: Works of art of the German Order from the Castle Busau affected by the former Czechoslovak Republic. In the execution of the provisions of the Versailles Dictates and the Habsburg Law, the castle Busau, which belonged to the German Order, was confiscated from the former Czechoslovak Republic.A number of valuable works of art were transferred to the chateau Konopišt, partly to the Czech State Gallery in Prague, on the basis of an order issued by the Minister for Education and Education. In 1937, the German Order bought the castle Busau back from the Czechoslovak state around K 300,000,--. However, the above-mentioned works of art were not included in the basic purchase price terms. The confiscation took place on the basis of the Habsburg Treaty, because Archduke Eugen of Habsburg was the Prior of the German order. However, these works of art do not belong to the property of the Archduke Eugene von Habsburg but, as I was informed by the trustee for the German Order, to the German order. Therefore, there was no basis for a confiscation. These works are part of the German assets seized by the former Czechoslovak state. A return of these works of art to German hands would also be considered for this reason. I will present you with 2l photographs and a list of works of art, indicating the current administrative location, and if you decide, in the spirit of my letter, to arrange for the publication of the works of Art at the directorate of the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and to immediately determine a place to which the works are to be transferred. Please accept the expression of my excellent high regard. He l Hitler! Supplements. $\ Your devoted /Dr. Dorer/
