194a - 4 - The working situation in the various occupational groups : Occupational group 1 Agriculture: The very worryingly growing need for agricultural labour of all kinds has experienced considerable relief in June by the allocation of Slovenian workers. To date, more than 40oo Slovak businesses have been assigned to the farmers and landowners of the Protectorate, whose work has benefited mainly from the special German farms which are under pressure. Moreover, about 7O0 Slovaks have entered agriculture illegally. Nevertheless, the still uncovered demand, especially for the seasonal work, remained quite high, so that, for example, in the Prague district of hack and beet harvests a considerable delay occurred. In addition, some of the forces required for forestry have been temporarily certified to cope with the urgent agricultural labour shortage, and some industrial enterprises have, in voluntary agreement with their workers, for a short period of time suspended their activities in order to provide the community with the opportunity to carry out urgent seasonal agricultural work, short-time workers, including women, teachers and pupils, were made available to manage the harvest, emergency work was checked on their stock of agricultural workers and these were returned to their professional work. The desire to emigrate from the country to the city has on the one hand increased wages, on the other hand the possibility of being obliged to take part in the survey. 48212
