94 copy of Prague, 2 October 194l. I am very grateful to you for your letter of yesterday's decision of the People's Court on the matter of Prime Minister A. I have been informed, as well as for allowing me now to talk to you about this case, and at the same time to ask you to support my fervent request to the Führer and Chancellor of the Reich for the pardon of Elias. I was very close to the incident with Elias, as it is a man who was one of the first and unconditionally my step of the 15th century. In March 1939, he understood, stood up for him and gave up all his influence to teach the people the awareness that this historical decision was the only right one. I believe that the acts charged to him do not give rise to dishonorable motives, and that, when he was shaken and let go of it, he did so uncompromisingly, where he had a hostile attitude to the rich, in order to avoid the sacrifice of people, of whom he constantly hoped that he would succeed in getting them on the right track in time. This moves me to express my sincere request to you, to recommend to the Führer and Chancellor of the Reich that he make a favorable decision about Elias's request for grace. I am convinced that your intervention for the purpose of calming the population of the Protectorate would be the complete success if it were crowned by such an act of grace on the part of the Führer and Reichskanuler. Not in the last row would this also facilitate my work, which aims to deepen the idea of the Empire in the Czech people and to integrate this people into the newly ordered Europe, which is forever freed from the Bolshevik danger. e.g. Dr. Hacha.
