t0/Protocol. I'bilm Today, at 12 o'clock, Minister Moravec visited me and shared with me the following: he came as an envoy, so to speak, and on behalf of the President-in-Office of the Council, Dr Hácha, to present a highly political matter to me on his behalf. Krejči was appointed president of Lana, where he and Dr. Mr Krejči, in the President's anteroom, was informed at the very beginning by the section head Dr. v.Popelka that the President had appointed the two gentlemen to discuss a high-level political matter, but that Mr v.Ppelka was completely unparticipated in the situation. The President then told the gentlemen present that he had the urgent need to do something good for the Czech people and therefore intended to appeal to me in order to obtain the consent of the leader to issue an amnesty for Czech detainees on the occasion of 30 January 1983. In the course of the one-and-a-half-hour discussion, Mr Moravec had objected to this intention on the grounds that the timing of an amnesty was unfavourable.
