- 2 - 105 nete However, with the increasing defensive successes of the German Wehrmacht in the east towards the end of the month, the prevailing high mood of the Czech population gradually waned. It was generally disillusioned that the expectations set out in the Russian offensive were not fulfilled at the pace that was believed to be acceptable according to the slogans of the whisper propaganda. A sudden change in mood caused the speech of the Secretary of State on 26 February at the rally of the protectorate direction. At the moment, she let the interest in the military events go completely into the background and silence a whispering propaganda still running at full speed. In the echo that the speech found in the Czechs, the positive voices far outweighed. The very fact that the Secretary of State spoke directly to the Czechs in the first place was generally accepted and accepted. As a visible reaction, the Czechs experienced a palpable relief and calming, as the previously expressed fears about the introduction of general compulsory military service or the statutory duty to work for Czechs did not occur. Especially in peasant circles, the statements of the Secretary of State about the resettlement of Czech farmers which had been carried out in individual areas caused a certain calming. In working-class circles, above all, the words that all, without distinction of status, were used equally in the total mobilization of the labour force, found lively support. Unlearnable Czechs, especially intellectuals, however, after recovering from the first tension, tried to reassert the good effect of the speech on the majority of the Czech population by presenting it as a "plumpy peasant hobby". In general, these measures are strongly opposed by the Czech population. Czech intelligents took a sharp stand against the action, especially women who had not been in a permanent employment relationship and were afraid to be called to work, with a wild incitement. Due to the various rumours spread in this context, the total employment was tried as proof that Germany "was already whistled in the last hole and put everything on a map" or to claim that Germany thereby completely destroyed the Czechs economically b.w.
